Yesterday was one of those crappy kind of days where nothing really major went wrong in my life... but lots of little things that were annoying and frustrating did... even a massage didn't really help.  Well with a new month and renewed attitude, even among the busiest time of my work, I came home to the best puppy (well dog) in the world.

Jackson, my 5 year old sheltie... is such a sweet, sensitive, smart and loving soul... it doesn't matter what is going on there is he, with his sweet brown eyes just excited to see me and cuddle up with me when I am home!  I'm a lucky girl!

I got my new baking book today!! :)  I can't wait to try the things in here and also get a better handle on baking at 5000ft!  Not everything needs adjustment but there are plenty of things that do need to have a few adjustments!  I'm not sure what I did without this book before now!

I'm sure once I've made a couple of recipes from here I'll post some of them on my other blog - dedicated to baking and cooking! :)

So, just stopped by a tile place in town to see what they had and get ideas... found a great floor time that looks like bamboo - the picture doesn't do it justice as the coloring is all wrong.  AND found glass time which will serve as a backdrop in the main bathroom.  I was skeptical that it would match the color of the paint (which I love) and it's perfect!  Project time! :)

I can't wait until spring!  I got 2 of these planter boxes - this is the before shot.  They will be sanded down, the little balls will get knocked off and a paint job and then they will be ready for dirt and flowers! :)

This is post two about organization... i love things that help spaces be more organized!  The three clear containers on the left were what I bought at the container store and helped organize a normally messy space!  Not anymore!!!  If I could I would find the right size bin for everything in my house and then label it with my amazing label maker!

I got to go to some of my favorite stores... not that I really bought anything in most of them nor could i really afford most of the things they sell either... it's not the point.  I get ideas for things I could do or find much much cheaper and let's be honest I'm all about a deal!  So we went to Flatirons Mall area and I got to go to the Container Store, Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Williams Sonoma, and Pottery Barn.  I picked up a few things at the container store (see tomorrow's post)! :)  Then we went to Boulder and I got to go to the Apple Store and play with the iPad and iPhone.  Can I just say how excited I am to get an iPhone!  CAN'T WAIT!!  Regardless... here's the pic of the day...  :)

I don't really have a picture for today... not sure what to do about that yet. It may just have to be left as that.  I have to have surgery to take care of Fibroids - they suck and is likely linked to my anemia and a few other health issues.  I met with a specialist during the end of December and walked through everything.  Left the office waiting to hear back from the doctor's about when my surgery would be scheduled.  I let them know that due to work that the surgery would need to be done by the end of January or would need to wait until mid April.  I hadn't heard for quite a while and figured that it wouldn't happen until April and then today I got the call that my surgery had been scheduled for January 24th... holy crap!  That's in less than 2 weeks.  I'm glad to get this taken care of to move forward and I'm absolutely scared as well!

It's official... Verizon is going to FINALLY carry the iphone!  So excited... yes I have totally geeked out about this.  I hate my phone and would never buy another blackberry ever, it's been crapping out on my for quite some time.  So I checked on the 11th to see if I would be eligible to upgrade when it first comes out in February or if I would have to wait until April when my new every two comes up.  Initially it was waiting which was fine because it would get some kinks out of the verizon system.  Then I started debating if I were to wait until April then should I wait a few more months until the iphone 5 comes out... hmmm decisions!  Then I checked again on the verizon site (because apple said I was good to go for february but verizon didn't)... and then verizon said I would be eligible for the pre-release!  Waaaa Hooo!  Yep, not waiting bring on the iphone!!

what a day it was... verizon and apple finally announced the partnership I have been waiting for years to be announced.  Verizon will start to have the iphone as of February!! so amazing!  I will be eligible for upgrade in April, I'm still deciding if I want to get the iphone 4 in april or wait until june/july when the iphone 5 will be released.  I guess I have a few months to make that decision.  It was my cousin's (Will) birthday and a work colleague/friend's (Kyle) birthday today.

Then comes the dessert that I made today... peanut butter swirled brownies... why oh why have I waited this long to make this masterpiece!  Really, is there anything better than chocolate and peanut butter?!  all I have to say is "YUM"!

I received an email about a week ago regarding one of the classes I am registered to take, EDRM 606... it's a pre-requist class that I need before I take other research class I am required to take for my PhD.  Ugh... really?  I am already having to pay for this class that I don't really want to have to take because it doesn't "count" and now I may have to take 2?!?  Well, I'm working on getting the first class waived so I can stay in my current class.  I had to get a transcript, a syllabus from the class and fill out a form... 2 out of those 3 I can handle, not a big deal... but a syllabus from that class I took 14 years ago?!?! really!?!?  So I have emailed about 4 different people and today I got a copy of the syllabus from this semester with an email that indicates not much has changed!  Well, I hope it works... I'll keep ya'll posted!

The packers made it one step closer to the playoffs... it snowed... i tried out my new power snow shovel (think snowblower light)... and I cleaned the house!  All in all it was a good day!

The picture I took today was of none of those things... it's of my meyer lemon plant, it had to come live indoors as it normally grows in warm and humid locations (like florida)... colorado is definitely NOT like florida (which is a good thing).  There are a number of fruits/lemons on the plant just letting them get bigger and hopefully yellow up!  Very exciting!

homemade pasta... i have been so excited to really put my new island to use with trying to make homemade pasta!  people say you can make pasta from scratch without rollers or pasta machine, to that I say absolutely you can... and I did!  Next up... Black Bean Ravioli!! :)

I have been really good about my renewed passion for working out and getting healthy(ier)... reclaiming time for myself and doing things that will help to keep me grounded, centered and focused. The picture is of my yoga mat, which has been neglected for quite some time. I have a personal trainer and I meet with her once every 3-4 weeks, get a new workout routine.  I swim 6 days a week, do the trainer routine 3 days a week and yoga on Saturdays to stretch it all back out!  I am on week 3 of this new dedication and feelin' great!

I got a new toy!!  Thanks to my mom and one of my great xmas gifts!  It's not a full blown snowblower, not sure I need something quite that serious when it comes to snow removal. This is a power shovel, able to "shovel" through up to 6in in height and will throw snow 20 ft!  whee!  We are suppose to get snow during the upcoming weekend so hopefully I'll get a chance to try it out!

I made a new necklace that I have been wanting to do for quite a while... i am not sure where I got the idea from but i think it adds a fun pop of color to most any outfit!  There are two small silver pendants - a lotus flower and one that says namaste.  There is obvious symbolism with them but more importantly it reminds me to do see the beauty in all things, even out of the more horrible situations, the crappiest of circumstances there is something that can be taken from it... the story of the lotus is that it grew from a muddy swamp that was seemed to be nothing but muck.  The namaste reminds me to treat people with respect and patience... you never know what kind of day they are having!

Here are some of my books for this semester... for one class at least.  The class is Theory and Practice of Change, the other class is a pre-req class for many of the research classes I need to take.  However, I found a minor glitch in this plan... i apparently need a pre-req class or waiver before I can even take this one - seriously!?  I was not happy when I received that email. Luckily I have a great advisor and am working on getting all the things I need to get it waived.

Today was a good day... we had our RLT retreat and was facilitated by two women I truly admire and one I consider my mentor.  I continue to learn more and more as I delve further into org development stuff... I am "cheating" a little because this picture is from july however it's with the same great group of individuals I spent the day with!
